As popular culture and demonized our first responders and called for the defunding of police, Bert has consistently shown a commitment to supporting our public safety officers. In 2017, Bert worked hard, hand in hand with the Georgia Senate in securing the passage of "Back the Badge", a historic bill that strengthened Georgia laws to give our officers the highest level of protection possible against violent criminals. in 2020, Bert also voted in support of another important bill, HB 838, which again sought to add heightened protections to our officers in a time where many in this Country have turned their backs on public safety.
